Mindfulness teacher, writer & founder of Rooted in Presence
I'm Tanya, a qualified mindfulness teacher trained in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT).
I came to mindfulness through discovering how easily we can become caught up in our thoughts - believing them, following them and allowing them to pull us away from the present moment.
This moment is the only one we have. When we are somewhere else in our minds, we can miss it - we can miss our life.
Why Rooted in Presence?
I chose the name because I like the idea of being rooted without being fixed.
Roots give us stability, but growth requires movement, change and adaptation. For me, that is a useful way of thinking about mindfulness.
A commitment to learning and growing
My teaching is grounded in established mindfulness approaches and informed by continued learning and personal experience.
I believe that teaching mindfulness also means remaining a student of it. My own understanding continues to evolve through training, retreats, personal exploration and ongoing study.
