Before you join the course
This course is designed to introduce mindfulness and support the development of a regular mindfulness practice. It is an educational programme for the general population and is not a substitute for medical or psychological treatment.
A few things to be aware of
Your wellbeing comes first
Mindfulness can be helpful for many people, but it isn't suitable for everyone at every time. If you are experiencing significant or acute mental health difficulties, please speak with an appropriate healthcare professional before considering the course.
If you are currently receiving medical or psychological treatment, please continue to follow the advice of your healthcare professional.
You are in charge of your practice
You are encouraged to work at a pace that feels appropriate for you. If a practice or discussion feels uncomfortable or distressing, you can pause, modify or stop the practice and, where appropriate, seek additional support.
This is not therapy
The course is educational and focuses on learning and practising mindfulness. It does not provide individual psychological treatment or medical advice.
Confidentiality
The course includes group discussion and shared experience. Participants are asked to respect one another's privacy and not share personal information disclosed within the group outside the sessions.
Everyone's experience is different
People respond to mindfulness in different ways. There is no particular experience you are expected to have, and the benefits of practice vary from person to person.
